Shelbyville mother allegedly assaulted infant child

KSP arrested a Shelbyville mother Monday for allegedly assaulting her one-month-old son.

Hermelinda Ramos-Perez, 29, was charged with second degree assault and was lodged in the Shelby County Detention Center, according to a release from KSP. The infant boy was allegedly assaulted at a Shelbyville apartment complex. He was taken to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville with injuries to his head and face.

A joint investigation by KSP and the Shelby County Cabinet for Health and Family Services began Oct. 8. Based on Ramos-Perez’s immigration status, an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer has been placed on her. KSP Frankfort Post 12 is still investigating, and says more arrests are pending.
