Motorists should expect lane closures on Wilkinson Boulevard between Hall Street and Schenkel Lane as contractors work to repave the roadway by Nov. 15.
The right lane of eastbound Wilkinson Boulevard was closed Monday with crews working on the resurfacing project.
The $588,855 contract was awarded to H.G. Mays Co. of Frankfort, according to Andrea Clifford, spokeswoman for the Kentucky Department of Highways’ Louisville district office.
The project was one of 66 contracts totaling more than $64 million awarded in May as part of the Transportation Cabinet’s annual resurfacing program, Clifford said.
More than 1.5 miles of Wilkinson Boulevard from Hall Street to Georgetown Road — also often called the Thornhill Bypass — will be repaved as part of the project.
Anderson County received a share of the largest asphalt project awarded in May — resurfacing an 8-mile section of the Martha Layne Collins Blue Grass Parkway from mile point 39.3 to mile point 47.3. The work includes part of Washington County.
Mago Construction and Nally & Haydon Surfacing were jointly awarded that $15.27 million project, which includes reconstruction of a bridge. Paving should be complete by Nov. 1 with a Dec. 1 deadline for the entire project.
