UPDATE: Victim, suspect identified in Saturday night shooting in Frankfort

One man shot in the head

By Kristina Belcher, Published:

As of Monday morning, police were still searching for the suspect accused of shooting a Frankfort man in the head Saturday night.

Frankfort Police Maj. Rob Richardson said officers responded to Frankfort Regional Medical Center just past 11 p.m., after Alonzo Scott, 37, of Frankfort, came in with a gunshot wound.

Scott said he was staying at the Bluegrass Inn on Versailles Road when someone entered his room and began assaulting him. During that assault, Richardson said the victim heard a gunshot. Scott soon realized he had been shot, Richardson said, and was able to get free and drive himself to the hospital.

Richardson said Scott later identified the man who attacked him as Christopher McGowan, 27, of Frankfort. A warrant has been issued for McGowan’s arrest for second-degree assault.

Police said a bullet struck Scott in the head, but his injuries were not life threatening and he has since been released from the hospital.

When officers went to Scott’s hotel room, they said they found evidence of a struggle and a shooting.

Richardson said the incident is still under investigation. He said the motive for the attack is still unclear.

  • I am Legion, we are one.

  • Legion and Bodeen are not the samer person.  IF you followed their responses on articles you would know that.

  • There is no way that Bodeen is Legion. I think that is so funny.

  • Capitalcitizen My beef with this sheriff is the same beef that many other citizens has and I will not get over it. As far as who this legion fella is, I don't know and certainly don't care. Evidently he is one of many who has had a bad experience from deputies with egomania. Also any reader of these posts can clearly see that Legion and I disagree on just about everything and certainly aren't the same poster. After all, I've been using MY NAME for well over a dozen years now and couldn't change it if i wanted to. The state journal doesn't allow more than one name at one time registered to an e-mail account. I have never lost my privilege to post so I do not have to keep coming up with different screen names like some has.. so get over yourself!

  • Legion/Bodeen - I am sure you are one in the same.  Get over your beef with the Sheriff's office.  Focus on the issue at hand.

I am laughing at the news coverage and featuring of the motel desk clerk talking about this being an issue of a guy catching his wife cheating.  The news will certainly put anyone on the air. If I were the motel owner/manager, I sure wouldn't have let my desk clerk speak on the record about this on the news.  Bad for business.

  • Sheriff Melton is only interested in drug related violations, although he has a very liberal opinion on what is drug related and what is not.  Don't ake my word for it, just look at his office's Facebook page.  FPD has always done the yoman's share of investigating violent crime, as it just isn't sexy enough for Melton...

  • Legion, Sheriff Melton has been quiet.  It appears FPD is taking over now.

  • "The man said he was staying at the Bluegrass Inn on Versailles Road when someone came into his room and started assaulting him. During that assault, Richardson said the victim heard a gunshot. The man soon realized he had been shot, Richardson said, and was able to get free and drive himself to the hospital."

What clumsy wording!  Which man realized he had been shot, and how was he able to get himself free to drive to the hospital?  Who had the gun and who did the shooting? If it was the man who had been shot, how did he get free from a man with a gun?

Sheriff Melton said that this report was probably drug related.
