Emergency officials are mending a gas leak on Wilkinson Boulevard near the Glen Willis House.
Emergency Management Director Tom Russell said the leak appears to be coming from a 2-inch feed line that was hit by a backhoe doing construction in the area. He said it is unclear what company or agency hit the line.
As a result of the leak, Douglas Wheel Alignment and Tire has been temporarily shut down, but Wilkinson itself remains open. Russell said he anticipated the leak will be mended by 11 a.m.
Russell said the gas in the area has been shut off, the leak location has been crimped and will be repaired soon.
EMA is being assisted on scene by the city fire and police departments, Columbia Gas Company, the Frankfort Plant Board and the Harper Construction Company.
