The date is Dec. 24 and it's Christmas crunch time. Shoppers are out in droves, cramming department store aisles as they search, often desperately, for last-minute gifts.
Shoppers are also wondering if it's going to rain, sleet or snow before they wrap up their shopping and get to their Christmas destinations.
A light snow arrived late Monday evening, but local roads were clear this morning.
For some, Christmas shopping is something done at a leisurely pace, beginning as early as late summer and typically completed by the fall. Others wait until the day after Thanksgiving to begin and don't finish until two or three weeks before the big day.
But a great number of procrastinators will wait until the last minute to start checking off their Christmas shopping lists. Why they do it is anybody's guess, but one thing is for certain; they've been keeping Frankfort's shopping centers and downtown stores awfully busy this week.
