Holiday gift-buying sales were better than last year, or at least as good, according to several Frankfort merchants.
Glenn Wooldridge, owner of Wooldridge Jewelers on East Main Street, said 2002 has been a good business year.
"We've had about a 25 percent increase in sales volume over the last year," Wooldridge said Thursday. "In the last two or three weeks, we've been up a good bit more than 25 percent. We're very pleased."
Business was brisk the day after Christmas, and he expects several more big days of shopping.
"A lot of people are now using their gift certificates or spending money they received for Christmas," he said. "So we're still busy."
Big promotional sales, giving away prizes, brought in many buying customers in November and December, he said.
