MADD Kentucky is moving.
A few days after the biggest partying night of the year, New Year's Eve, MADD will move its state headquarters from Harrodsburg to Frankfort.
The organization - with a mission to stop drunken driving, support victims of DUI crashes and prevent underage drinking - will occupy five offices in the new Charity Suites building in Prevention Park for nonprofit groups. The building is owned by developer C. Michael Davenport.
"In Frankfort, we'll be closer to legislators, we'll have easier access to state government, and we'll be closer to people who can help us as we try to help them," said Frieda Cox, who served on a committee to find office space in Frankfort.
"That includes our partners in highway safety, the state Justice Cabinet and Victim Services, the Attorney General's Office, the Department for Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and the Alcoholic Beverage Control," said Sara McKinney, chairwoman for MADD Kentucky. "In Frankfort, we will also be closer to major media outlets. And from a business standpoint, it will give us a better pool of employees when we're hiring someone."
