Patton's affair is top local story

In 2002, Frankfort residents - along with people across the state and country - watched Gov. Paul Patton make a tearful public apology for an extramarital affair. Another Kentucky State University President was ousted as was the city manager.

Looking back, it was a hectic year indeed. Other top stories included the conviction of Shane Ragland, arson at a local school, the closing of an industrial plant and countless other headlines that do not appear below. A special section in today's newspaper highlights other events that occurred throughout the year.
