Outgoing state Rep. Gippy Graham has made up his mind.
Since last summer he has pondered a campaign for secretary of state, and next week he plans to make it official by filing for the office. Graham said it would be either on Wednesday or Thursday of next week.
But he may be going into the Democratic primary at a disadvantage. His opponent is Jefferson County Commissioner Russ Maple, who formally filed Thursday, has been organizing a campaign for the last two years, and said he has raised about $285,000.
Graham on the other hand admits he is "starting from scratch," but is still optimistic.
"I'm not one to feel the amount of money you have for a campaign is the final ingredient for success," Graham said.
