Game Farm hearing postponed because of fallen public notice

By CHARLES PEARL State Journal Staff Writer Published:

A public hearing scheduled Thursday evening on a zone change request to allow a new subdivision and commercial development near Game Farm Road was postponed.

Vickie Sewell, planning director for Franklin County, told the Frankfort/Franklin County Planning Commission a sign posted on the 1904 Louisville Road property - announcing the zone change request - blew over sometime last weekend and she didn't find out about it until Tuesday.

Sewell said she attempted to put the sign back up, "but it was frozen rock solid to the ground." She said a state statute requires the sign to be posted 14 consecutive days before a public hearing.

The public hearing has been rescheduled for Feb. 5 during the next planning commission meeting, which starts at 5:30 p.m.

Charles David and Julia Gabbart Morris are requesting that 20 acres be rezoned from Rural Residential (RR) to Rural Residential "B" Density (RB); and 10 acres be rezoned from RR to Highway Commercial. The entire tract at 1904 Louisville Road is 54.3 acres.
