Frankfort Regional Medical Center has been selected as a Top 100 hospital by an independent health-care company.
Solucient of Evanston, Ill., a leading source of health-care business intelligence, included the local hospital on its ninth annual list which analyzes acute-care hospitals nationwide using performance data from 1999 and 2000, according to a release from the company. Hospitals were assigned to one of five comparison groups according to bed size, teaching status and residency program involvement.
The list of the 100 top national hospitals - actually 101 this year - included 20 small community hospitals, 20 medium community hospitals, 20 large community hospitals, 25 teaching hospitals and 16 major teaching hospitals.
Frankfort Regional Medical Center falls in the medium community hospital category. Only two other Kentucky hospitals - Whitesburg ARH, a small community hospital, and Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, a medium community hospital - were ranked in Solucient's Top 100.
The ranking, Administrator David Steitz said, "validates what we've been doing on patient safety, customer service It shows that our work is paying off."
