An estimated 214 people filled the Frankfort Country Club Thursday to honor local business leaders who contributed to the community in 2002 - which chamber leaders called a good year for local businesses.
The Frankfort Area Chamber of Commerce annual meeting also recognized outgoing chamber officers and introduced the new board.
Though faced with a sluggish economy, outgoing President Danny Garland said 2002 was a successful year for local businesses. He noted the "Make the Frankfort Choice," campaign, an effort to boost local sales during the holiday shopping season, and the chamber's new Web site as high points of 2002.
"It's a year you could term successful," said Garland.
In 2002, 28,475 "Make the Frankfort Choice" checks were sold throughout the holiday shopping season. That was a slight increase over 2001 sales of 27,000. The Chamber Web site will be launched in early 2003.
