Subdivision approved by planners

After an hour of discussion, the Frankfort-Franklin County Planning Commission on Wednesday gave approval to preliminary plans for a new subdivision near Prevention Park.

Commissioners pondered concerns over traffic, a pending sewer contract with the city, utilities, landscaping, sidewalks and the number of entrances to the property. Following the review, the commission voted 5-3 to approve the plan for a 95-lot subdivision at Cardwell Lane.

Commissioners Sherron Jackson, Charlene Wylie and C. Michael Davenport voted against the plan.

William O. Crumbaugh, who developed nearby Heritage Subdivision, sought approval for a preliminary subdivision plat. The 29-acre residential development, to be called Augusta Subdivision, is to encompass 16,351 square feet and will be located across from the Heritage.

The property already was zoned "RB - Single Family Residential," which permits the construction of a subdivision.
