County eyes zone changes

By CHARLES PEARL State Journal Staff Writer Published:

Franklin Fiscal Court gave the first reading to a couple of rezoning ordinances at Friday's regular meeting.

One ordinance amendment will rezone 22.8 acres off Stedmantown Road and adjacent to the existing Maples Subdivision from Agriculture and General Industrial to Single Family Residential "C" Density.

Vickie Sewell, county planning director, said the request is to allow for a 79-lot expansion of Maples Subdivision, all the way back to Elkhorn Creek.

The applicant for the zone change is Kelsey Properties Partnership, 826 E. Main St.

The other proposal will rezone 3.7 acres at 185 Old Versailles Road from Agricultural to General Commercial. The property is adjacent to Interstate-64 and the Max Allen property, which received a zone change in August 2001. It's a triangular-shaped parcel that doesn't have direct access to Versailles Road, but has access to Old Versailles Road.
