Murder clues sought

Few of Herman M. Buchanan's neighbors knew him very well. Most didn't even know his name, as the 31-year-old had only lived at Forest Villa Apartments for about three months, according to residents.

But virtually all residents at the apartment complex - many who said they live there because of its safe reputation - are well aware of Buchanan's murder early Friday morning. Some stopped to view the blood-stained sidewalk in front of Apartment 6; other turned their heads as they passed by.

"It's always been a great place to live and the tenants are really nice," said Meagan Noel, who lives with her toddler son Isaac in a secondfloor apartment near Buchanan's first-floor unit. She has lived there for about a year and a half. "I've never felt leery of anyone being in the area until now."

As of Friday, Frankfort Police were seeking information from a man wanted for both murder and attempted murder in Gary, Ind. However, police spokesman Steve Clark stressed the man, Ronnie Dontell Drane, 29, is not a suspect at this time.

Drane is a black male about 6 foot 1, weighing 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on his left arm that says "RONNIKA," according to information provided by Clark. Drane is listed on the Lake County Sheriff's Department's Web site for most-wanted criminals in that area.
