Cheers turn to tears in UK beer

By GAYLE COULTER and BETH CRACE State Journal Staf Published:

No amount of screaming at the big screen TV at the Office Pub and Deli could change the score of Saturday night's NCAA tournament game between the University of Kentucky and Marquette University.

University of Kentucky fans moaned, shouted and covered their faces with their hands as their team fell so far behind in the final game of the Midwest regional it became obvious they were reaching the point of no return.

The beer was flowing and cheers of "C-A-T-S, Cats, Cats, Cats!" were as well-orchestrated as ever at the table shared by Doug and Teresa Perry , Mary and Jeff Rogers and Jim DeShazer. The five said they had gathered at the same table all season to watch UK play.

"We're Cat fans extraordinaire," Jeff Rogers said. "This is our table. We have front-row seats."

Emotions ran high throughout the Office Pub and Deli as customers watched their team fall further behind.
