Suicide threat causes uproar in neighborhood

Frankfort Police blocked off a quarter of Oaklawn Drive for nearly two hours Saturday as a local man was holed up inside his home, threatening to shoot himself.

Crisis negotiators and the tactical response team were called in to assist after police learned a 19-year-old male had a gun and did not have a telephone police could use to talk to him.

City police arrived on the scene at 3:48 p.m. after the young man had reportedly threatened to harm himself with a handgun. According to police, the man's actions were motivated by a domestic dispute involving at least one family member.

No one else was in the home at the time of the incident.

The man was taken into custody without further incident. He was then transported from the scene to the hospital to be evaluated for mental health care, police reported Saturday evening.
