Local woman dies in traffic accident here

State Journal Staff Report Published:

An 82-year-old Frankfort woman died Monday night from injuries sustained in a four-vehicle wreck on Versailles Road.

Lillian Brawner Broughton, of Isaac Shelby Circle, died Monday night at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

She was traveling east in her 1984 Chrysler Lebaron on U.S. 60 at the intersection of Laralan Drive attempting to make a left turn against the light into Brighton Park Shopping Center, according to a Frankfort Police Department accident report, when she pulled into the path of a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Patricia Gaines of Owenton.

Gaines was driving west on Versailles Road when she struck Broughton's car head-on, police reported. After the initial impact, Gaines then struck a 2003 Chevrolet pickup driven by Robert Demaree and a 1993 Saturn driven by James Greenleaf, both of Frankfort. Broughton was transported to Frankfort Regional Medical Center by Frankfort Emergency Medical Services where she was then transported to UK.
