Is downtown ready for Derby?
Over the past few months (and, in some cases, longer) downtown Frankfort has endured the effects of growing pains.
Streets have been shut down or otherwise rerouted. A massive, yet unfinished, monument of concrete and steel towers above Mero Street where homes and small businesses once stood. Capital Plaza fountains have been dry.
And then there's Broadway.
But through it all local and state officials have maintained they'd like to see construction complete - or at the very least cleaned up - by the Governor's Derby Day celebration to be held Saturday on the lawn of the Old Capitol.
