Jenny Hendershot called her husband, Michael, who works third shift and was sleeping, to tell him she got the best tip of her waitressing career Tuesday - a 1996 Buick Skylark.
"I said, 'Michael, this man just gave me a car,'" Hendershot recalled. "He said 'nuh-uh.' I said, 'Really, he did.'"
Hendershot said she explained to him that she waited on a man who ordered a glass of sweet tea during her day shift at the Waffle House on Versailles Road.
"He said he was going across the road to buy a new car," Hendershot said. "He came back about 20 or 30 minutes later and said, 'Do you want a car?' I told him I didn't have any money but he said, 'I didn't ask you that.'"
Hendershot, 50 and a longtime Frankfort resident, said the man told her, "this is your tip for the day."
He said he had bought a new car and "would rather give the car to someone who needed it rather than give it to the car lot."
