Library architect decision near

By CHARLES PEARL State Journal Staff Writer Published:

The Paul Sawyier Public Library Board is getting close to selecting an architect for the new library building on Wapping Street.

Board member Mike Fields, chairman of the architectural and engineering evaluation committee, said after Tuesday's regular monthly meeting the committee's number one choice is Woollen, Molzan and Partners Inc., of Indianapolis.

The committee reviewed 19 proposals and interviewed six firms within the last month, including Woolen, Molzan and Partners twice, Fields said.

"We're working now on negotiating a fee, and hope to have that completed soon," Fields said.

He said there were some excellent proposals from firms with vast experience in designing libraries.
