Top school candidates are named

Six out of 32 applicants to replace Frankfort Independent Superintendent Mike Oder have made it to the final interview stage.

The Frankfort Independent Board of Education released the names Tuesday of its top six candidates for the superintendent position.

Oder retires June 30 after serving 12 years as superintendent. The board had originally hoped to have the new superintendent selected by June 1 but will conduct interviews through June 4.

The six finalists scheduled for interviews with the board include: David I. Boggs of Dawson Springs; Arnold W. Carter of Prestonsburg; V. Karen Hatfield of Morehead; Judith MacLean Lucarelli of Gorham, Maine; Orin M. Simmerman III of Paris, Ky., and Sherrill G. Smith of Frankfort, who is currently the associate superintendent for the district.
