Tony Charters has resigned as executive director of the Frankfort-Franklin County Tourist and Convention Commission.
Charters' resignation was announced at Wednesday's board meeting of the commission.
Marc Stone, chairman of the board, said Charters was not asked to resign.
Stone said it was his understanding that Charters simply wants to pursue other opportunities.
"He's going to stay around and help us as a consultant until we find a new director," Stone said. "I'm thankful he's going to do that."
Stone said the board has immediate plans to start its search for a new executive director.
