Today is David Steitz's last day as CEO of the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

The 18-year veteran of the health-care field came to the local hospital in April of 1997 and for the past six years he has dedicated himself to it.

Steitz received a health planning degree from Penn State and his graduate degree in health administration from the University of Houston. He began as an assistant administrator at the hospital in Houston and later became CEO of Bourbon hospital in Paris, Ky. Just before coming to Frankfort he was the CEO of the Lake City, Fla., hospital.

Steitz said he is proud of his record here.

"The hospital has grown tremendously over the past six years, and we have added a lot of services to it," he said. "I think we have improved overall the quality of patient care and the hospital's reputation."
