Allen Prewitt Jr., 67, former city solicitor, died Tuesday morning from a self-inflicted gunshot, according to Franklin County Coroner Mike Harrod.

Prewitt's death is still officially under investigation by the Frankfort Police Department pending lab results, according to Det. Dale Roberts, who said police have no reason to suspect anyone else was involved in the shooting.

Prewitt was found inside his vehicle parked at his residence at #4 Admiral's Landing

Prewitt, an attorney who served as city solicitor for more than 30 years, was suffering from terminal cancer.

He was a graduate of Centre College, where he played football, and received his law degree from the University of Kentucky School of Law.
