Cannons, canvas tents and local actors re-created a Civil War encampment for participants in the Kentucky Historical Society's annual Boone Day festivities Saturday.
Re-enactors at the Leslie Morris Park on Fort Hill welcomed visitors as they portrayed characters ranging from inn proprietors to soldiers.
Nicky Hughes, city curator of historic sites, said the event was meant to be a thorough living history tour of the historic area of Fort Hill.
The park's welcome center includes an interpretative center which narrates the history of Fort Hill through photographs. Artifacts, such as bullets and a clay pipe, are also on display.
