Buckeyes help work on school

By GAYLE COULTER State Journal Staff Writer Published:

The Buckeye Baptist Builders have a mission to build things that help spread the word of Jesus.

Although they usually build new additions or help renovate churches, this week they have been working on the new Christian Academy located in the old Fruit of the Loom building on 421.

This is the first time the missionary group has helped with construction work on a school, but they felt it was an important job, said group leader Steve Bottoms.

"Love is action," Bottoms said. "I think that's clear in scripture and I think this is a clear example of love in action."

Bottoms, who is a professional homebuilder, said for the past 18 years, the group has spent a week out of each year working on churches around the United States as well as in places such as Brazil, Costa Rica, Russia, Korea, Japan and Kosovo.
