Marcus L. Webb, comptroller for Kentucky State University, died in an accident on Interstate 64 in Fayette County Monday.

Kentucky State Police said Webb, 38, suffered fatal injuries when his car was hit by one driven by Michael P. Susce, 48, Wilmore. Alcohol is believed to have played a factor, according to the state police report.

The accident occurred at 5:02 p.m. Monday and Webb was pronounced dead by the Fayette County coroner at 6:22 p.m. Susce was admitted to the University of Kentucky's hospital with chest injuries.

Susce was traveling westbound on I-64 when he lost control of his Pontiac, which crossed the median and struck Webb's Infiniti, according to a state police report. Susce's car continued across the eastbound lanes until it struck an earth embankment.

Webb died of multiple blunt force trauma, according to a news release from the Fayette County coroner.
