Judith MacLean Lucarelli, the Frankfort Independent School District's new superintendent, comes from a long line of educators.
Both her parents and grandfather were teachers. Also, two of her siblings are in education. Lucarelli, herself, has put 33 years into the family tradition.
The Connecticut native was hired by the school board in June. Her contract began on July 1 and goes through June 30, 2007, with a salary of $90,000 per school year.
"For the last four years I've been the deputy commissioner in Maine's education department," she said. "Some of my responsibilities were implementing Maine's learning standards and the No Child Left Behind Act."
