Teen has troubled history

Nathan Davis, 17, of 218 Murray St., indicted this week on capital murder charges in Fayette Circuit Court, started having problems with the law when he was just 12 years old.

Davis, who turns 18 on Sept. 4, will be tried on capital murder charges after being arrested and charged earlier this week in the March 2003 shooting death of Duvon Wheeler in Lexington.

Lt. James Curless with the Lexington Police said Davis is being tried as an adult.

Davis is accused of shooting Wheeler, 27, in a parking lot at 1541 Eastland Parkway in Lexington and also with tampering with physical evidence. Wheeler, shot in the head, died at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Davis had been placed in custody on unrelated charges in Rochester, N.Y., where Curless said he was extradited to Lexington and charged with murder.
