Illinois woman dies in cycle wreck on I-64

An Illinois woman was killed Tuesday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on Interstate-64 near Frankfort.

According to Kentucky State Police, Annette Null, 55, died when the westbound motorcycle she was riding with Leonard Urban, 45, crashed into a 1994 Pontiac truck on I-64. The truck, driven by James Jewell, 29, of Lexington, had a flat tire and was traveling about 25 miles per hour and attempting to pull off onto the shoulder of I-64 when the 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Urban hit the truck in the rear.

The accident happened at about 3:10 p.m., according to the police report.

Null and Urban, both of Carpentersville, Ill., were wearing helmets when the accident occurred, police said.

According to the report, Null and Urban were transported to the Frankfort Regional Hospital where Null was pronounced dead.

Urban was later transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he was listed today in critical condition.

Jewell and his passenger, Amy Smith, 27, also of Lexington, were not injured in the collision.
