HEBRON - Kentucky State University will have a list of finalists for a new president next month and choose one after Thanksgiving, the chairman of the Board of Regents said here Sunday.
William Wilson said Issacson and Miller, a national search firm from Boston, will present the board with a list of candidates Oct. 23 and the board will narrow it to the finalists.
"We have spent a lot of time thinking about the kind of person we want (for president)," Wilson said here at the Cincinnati Airport Marriott where the board met. "We have tried to talk to as many people as possible to get their input, and we are doing a lot of talking and discussing with past KSU committees. Our objective is to provide the very best leadership we can for KSU."
Wilson said he hopes to have the finalists decided before the Thanksgiving holiday.
"Immediately after Thanksgiving we will sit down and choose our next president," Wilson said. "I'm really excited about the quality of applicants we have gotten."
Bill Turner, KSU's interim president, has also submitted his application for the position, Wilson said.
Also, an update on Praxis II was presented to the board. The Praxis II is a national teaching exam which tests future teachers' knowledge of their content areas.
