Trick or treat for UNICEF

Published:

In 1985, Rotary International, the UN World Health Organization, the US Centers for Disease Control, and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) began a major international program to eliminate polio and other childhood diseases by 2005, the 100th birthday of Rotary. When the Polioplus program eliminates polio, each year it will save 50,000 children's lives, hundreds of thousands more will not be afflicted, American taxpayers will save $350 million, and worldwide taxpayers will save $1.5 billion.

UNICEF said that all money collected through the Trick or Treat for UNICEF program in October will be spent on the Polioplus program. The Frankfort Rotary Club requests that schools, churches, and businesses participate in this program. For more information, contact Joe Johnson at 695-9166.
