Debbie Penn's grassroots appeal for federal aid to flood-stricken Bald Knob is on its way to the White House, an aide to U.S. Rep. Ernie Fletcher says.
Fletcher's Washington, D.C., office received earlier this week the scrapbook compiled by Penn, a victim of the August flood, said Wes Irvin, a spokesman for Fletcher's gubernatorial campaign.
"They're getting it over to the White House," Irvin told The State Journal.
Penn wants President Bush to personally see pictures of the flood's destruction in hopes he'll override the Federal Emergency Management Agency's decision to deny Bald Knob disaster relief.
Penn declined an interview with The State Journal today, saying she does not want more publicity on the matter.
