Local woman's death still a mystery two years later

Tina Turner Sanderson Sanchez was looking for love in all the wrong places. A clich maybe, but one that some members of her family believe might have ultimately killed her.

Her body was found floating in the Kentucky River near the Capitol parking garage on Oct. 30, 2001.

Sanchez's three sisters and her mother say there's no way the Tina they knew drowned as a result of suicide because she was terrified of water.

"She didn't like to go near water and worried about her oldest son whenever he went to the river," said older sister Diana Giles. "If she would have done anything like that, she would have taken pills at home or something."

Sanchez had also just returned from the grocery and had a full refrigerator, clothes in the washing machine waiting to be dried and two cats she was crazy about, Giles said. She certainly would have made provisions for her animals.
