Fired bus driver faces three counts of sexual abuse

State Journal Staff Report Published:

A former Franklin County school bus driver was charged Monday with three counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

Dan Cook, 53, was arrested and taken to the Franklin County Regional Jail as a result of a three-month investigation into allegations of sexual abuse, according to a Kentucky State Police report.

Cook had been driving school buses for Franklin County for 34 years when he was fired on Oct. 24. Franklin County Public Schools Communications Coordinator Wayne Dominick said he was terminated for "policy violations."

Cook had been suspended from his duties on Oct. 2 after allegations against him came to light, Dominick said.
