Only two candidates for City Commission have filed election papers so far.
Kathy Carter, a retired state government employee and former manager for Gippy Graham's secretary of state campaign, filed Wednesday for the city race and issued a formal announcement. Graham and Cindy Thurman Elrod, treasurer for Carter's campaign, accompanied her to the courthouse when she filed.
Rodney S. Williams, of Equestrian Way, filed Friday but has not yet issued an announcement.
Carter, who lives on Montgomery Avenue, said she "wants to work for the common good of Frankfort" and emphasized that she does not have a personal agenda for running.
"I want to be a participant in our form of democracy," Carter said. "We live in the greatest country in the world, and I love my community."
