With spring practice approaching, Kentucky State University's head Football Coach Donald Smith remains suspended for reasons officials still refuse to disclose.
Meanwhile, Roderick Johnson, the assistant head coach, is filling Smith's job.
KSU's interim Athletic Director Curtis Campbell said he thought that was in the best interest of the team until Smith's status is settled. Roderick Johnson will keep the title of assistant head coach.
"Rod Johnson has been running the football program and will continue to do so until further notice," Campbell told The State Journal Thursday.
Campbell said the football team is carrying on as normal, despite not having a head coach for almost a month and spring practice set to begin March 31.
