Principals leaving two local schools

By MELISSA ARNOLD State Journal Staff Writer Published:

The principals of Elkhorn Elementary and Frankfort High School have something in common - they won't be back next school year.

Mark Thomas, Elkhorn Elementary's principal, said he decided not to return for the 2004-2005 school year because of a personal reason.

"I mulled over the decision for a very long time," Thomas said. "This is a wonderful school system and I work with wonderful people, so this has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make."

Dennis Hancock, Frankfort High School's principal, will also not be returning to the Independent School District for the 2004-2005 school year.

Terry Bush, secretary to the board of education, said Hancock will complete the rest of the school year. His contract ends June 30.
