The person Frankfort Police most wanted to question about a man fatally shot in front of his apartment off the East-West Connector a year ago was apprehended Tuesday in Nashville, Tenn.
Herman M. Buchanan was murdered March 15, 2003, outside his front door at Forest Villa Apartments.
Frankfort Police spokesman Steve Clark said two detectives were enroute to Nashville this morning to interview Ronnie Dontell Drane who was arrested Tuesday after U.S. marshals received a tip from viewers of television's "America's Most Wanted."
Drane was being sought for two murders in 2002 in Gary, Ind., and was listed as one of the 15 most-wanted people by federal authorities. Drane was also wanted on suspicion of unlawful flight from prosecution in connection with the murder charges. He additionally was charged with two counts of attempted murder.
Federal authorities said Drane is being extradited to Indiana on those charges.
Frankfort Police never identified Drane as an official suspect, Clark said, but his name came up during the course of the investigation into Buchanan's murder and detectives wanted to question him.
When Frankfort police arrived at the Forest Villa Apartments, they discovered Buchanan's body with multiple gunshot wounds. Little was known about the 31-year-old who'd lived there about three months.
Clark declined to say what information Drane might have, or what association he had with Buchanan.
