HODGENVILLE, Ky. – Officials say waves of strong storms damaged dozens of homes and businesses in north-central Kentucky today but left only one person injured. LaRue County Judge-Executive Tommy Turner says at least 20 houses were destroyed or severely damaged in the small city of Hodgenville 55 miles southwest of Louisville and home to the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park. Turner said the Wednesday morning storm could have been devastating. He said a day care center and three nearby schools were spared. The National Weather Service said it was investigating storms in the area to determine whether they were tornadoes. Damaging winds in Elizabethtown destroyed several buildings, state police said.
