Dinner, dance party at Senior Center
The Arnold Clark and Friends Band will be the entertainment for the first Senior Night Out dinner and dance party of the season at the Senior Activity Center, 202 Medical Heights Drive, April 19 at 5 p.m.
Admission to the party is $10 per person. Call the center at 223-5794 to register.
Humane Society food, supply drive
There will be a food and supply drive for the Franklin County Humane Society at the East side Dollar General from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
National Guard Capt. to speak at Senior Center
Capt. Carla Getchel of the Kentucky Army National Guard will present a program about her experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan at the Senior Activity Center, 202 Medical Heights Drive, Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Getchel served in Iraq as an intelligence officer in 2006 and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 as an agricultural mentor, specializing in women’s outreach and economic development.
Skateboarding competition
PARIS – S.K.A.T.E. for Wallace, a skateboarding fundraising competition, will be noon to 5 p.m. April 21 at the Legion Park basketball courts in Paris.
The entry fee is $10 per team, and this includes lunch and a “Skating for Wallace” bracelet.
Proceeds will go toward the construction of the Chris Claypool Memorial Skateboard Park being built at Legion Park. Claypool was an avid skateboarder before he died several years ago.
Prizes will be awarded to the first and second-place teams.
