Bondurant Middle School was on lockdown for almost an hour this morning after a school resource officer was told that a student was carrying a handgun, according to Sheriff Pat Melton.
According to Melton, the school was on lockdown from about 10:15 to 11:05 a.m. while school officials searched the student in question. The student, whose name and age were not released, was found with a large hunting knife and a BB gun that resembled a .45-caliber handgun.
The student was taken into custody without incident after the search, according to Franklin County Public Schools Superintendent Harrie Buecker.
