Girl injured during Tuesday's game, will be out for 8 weeks

Eighth-grader BriAnna Burbridge was taken to University of Kentucky Medical Center after dislocating and fracturing her tibia while sliding into home during Tuesday's Frankfort High School softball game.

“I’m just sick over it,” said Frankfort High softball coach Angie Hutcherson Tuesday.

“She was safe, and that’s the only good thing about it,” Hutcherson said. “She (BriAnna) was happy about that.”

Frankfort High was playing Trimble County at Capitol View Park, and it was the bottom of the second when BriAnna was injured.

The injury “put her team in a funk,” and Trimble County ended up winning 8-4, Hutcherson said.

“It was a bad day all the way around,” she added.

Doctors relocated her tibia and put her in a cast, Hutcherson said Wednesday morning in a text. She says BriAnna is expected to be out for eight weeks.
