Marine Corps League meets Wednesday
The Lt. Presley O’Bannon detachment 1342 invites all Marines (retired, active, former) and Navy FMF Corpsmen to attend the Marine Corps League meeting today at The Office Pub and Deli, 614 Comanche Trail.
Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and the meeting will run from 7-8 p.m.
During the meeting, applications will be accepted to join the League. Those wishing to apply should bring their DD 214/discharge certificate.
Tricia Miles, a Veterans Affairs service representative, will give an overview of all VA benefits. Commander Tim Martinez from American Legion Post 7 will give a class on the VA disability claim filing process.

Sustainable agriculture workshop
A sustainable agriculture workshop will be Thursday at the Kentucky State University Farm, 1525 Mills Lane.
The meeting will run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and will include discussions on pastured poultry, business planning and more.
‘Sit and sew workshop’ Saturday
Members of the Franklin County Homemakers are hosting a “sit and sew workshop” from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Franklin County Extension Office, 101 Lakeview Court.
Dr. Ann Vail from the University of Kentucky will give a presentation on the Kentucky Academy in Adjeikrom, Ghana. Following the presentation, participants will receive instruction on sewing pillowcase dresses that will be donated to Ghana.
Kits will be supplied and morning refreshments will be served. Participants should bring a working sewing machine, basic sewing supplies (scissors, thread, etc.) and a brown bag lunch. The workshop is free but pre-registration is required. Call the Extension Office at 695-9035 to register or for more information.
Project Grad selling chances on UK tickets
The FCHS and WHHS Project Graduation Committee is selling 100 chances for two lower level University of Kentucky 2012 football season tickets. Tickets are on the 16th row in Section 139.
Valued at $2,500 for the two tickets (seven home games total), chances are only $25 each and will be on sale until all are sold with only 100 chances being sold. The drawing will be Sunday evening, May 27 at Project Graduation.
