Police sting led to ex-Wildcat Porter's arrest, documents say

Staff and wire reports Published:

According to court records, former University of Kentucky basketball player Michael Porter was arrested after a police sting led to evidence that he had engaged in oral sex with an underage girl, reports the Lexington Herald-Leader.

According to the report, Porter told police he was involved in the relationship with the girl “because he was addicted to pornography.”

The 25-year-old was charged with six counts of third-degree sodomy and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse last week.

Porter allegedly engaged in sexual activity with the girl in 2009 and 2010, when she was 14 and 15. She is now 17.

According to the report, Lexington police interviewed the girl, who said she met Porter at church functions, where he was a group leader.

Porter would take the girl home from the functions and stop in a parking lot where the two would engage in oral sex, says the report.

The two would message each other on Facebook, call and text each other, said the girl. Conversations began benign, but eventually turned sexual in nature, according to the report.

Soon after the interview with the girl, police began the sting with Porter, which confirmed the girl’s statements – and revealed that the two had oral sex in her bedroom, the report says.

Porter is scheduled for an appearance in district court for a hearing June 4.
