A Frankfort man has pleaded not guilty to charges of raping an 8-year-old girl.
William “Eddie” Hafley, 40, who was arraigned Friday in Franklin Circuit Court, was arrested April 2 after he allegedly “engaged in sexual intercourse with another person who is incapable of consent because she is less than 12 years old,” court records say.
In Franklin District Court testimony April 10, Frankfort Police Detective Herb Wilson testified that Hafley raped an 8-year-old girl in an abandoned apartment building on Steadmantown Lane.
Previously – in July 2008 – Hafley was charged for sexually abusing a 9-year-old female. At the time, prosecutors said Hafley touched the child, who was a guest in his home, in a sexual manner in May of 2008.
He later pleaded guilty to an amended charge of unlawful contact with a minor. He was sentenced to five years of probation, which included no unsupervised contact with a child, according to court records.
On April 12, Franklin Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd revoked Hafley’s probation for admissions he made that violated his probation regulations. He has since been lodged at Franklin County Regional Jail.
