One taken to hospital in 4-car pileup

State Journal staff report Published:

A four-car pileup sent one woman to the hospital and shut down parts of U.S. 127 during rush hour traffic Tuesday.

The accident happened around 5:20 p.m. when traffic was stopped in the left southbound lane of U.S. 127 between Century Plaza and Bradford Square Care and Rehabilitation Center. Frankfort Police said that was when Bonnie Perry, 47, of Frankfort, failed to stop in time and rear-ended a blue Toyota Camry, driven by Margaret Ashburner, 82, of Frankfort.

Perry’s abrupt stop caused the car behind her, driven by 41-year-old Stacy Bush, of Lawrenceburg, to rear-end Perry and that collision propelled the line of cars forward to hit a black Acura driven by Christina Burch, 37, of Lexington, police said.

The collision shut down the left southbound lane of U.S. 127 for about 30 minutes as police and emergency officials worked to clear broken glass and other debris from the wreck.

Frankfort EMS transported Perry with non life-threatening injuries to Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
