Save the Grand gets $4,000 for touring artists

Save the Grand Theatre Inc. is one of nine Kentucky arts organizations awarded part of a $40,000 grant to help attract touring artists to their venues.

Save the Grand Theatre received $4,275 of the grant, made available by South Arts, a regional arts organization, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, the Kentucky Arts Council announced in a press release Tuesday.

Funds were awarded to nonprofit arts institutions that feature performances and educational components, the release says.

“Kentucky’s grant recipients bring programs to their regions that local audiences may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience,” said Lori Meadows, arts council executive director. “We congratulate each of our arts presenters and encourage Kentuckians to experience live arts events in these areas.”

Kentucky was one of nine states competing for $408,208 from South Arts. Other states in the organization’s region are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
