Touch-A-Truck Saturday

Kids of all ages are invited to attend Touch-A-Truck, Saturday from 1-4 p.m. at Lakeview Park, to learn about and explore cars and trucks of all shapes and sizes.

There will be monster trucks, concrete trucks, dump trucks, farm tractors, semi trucks, wreckers, rollbacks, racecars, police cars, fire trucks, a helicopter and more on site.

The event will benefit the United Way of Franklin County and will also include concessions, face painting, a helicopter landing at 2 p.m., a human truck pull contest at 3 p.m. and a TV raffle at 4 p.m.

Individual tickets are $5, a truck or car load is $20 and a bus load is $50.

Street closings for race Saturday

The YMCA Activate America run/walk will require the closure of portions of downtown streets from 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Street closures include Capital Avenue, Main Street from Capital Avenue to Washington Street, Ann Street from West Main Street to Broadway, Broadway from Ann Street to Washington Street, Washington Street from Broadway to West Main Street, East Todd Street and Old Lawrenceburg Road from Todd Street to Big Eddy.

Street sale Saturday 

There will be bargains and food at the old-fashioned street sale on Saturday on East Third Street.

The event is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 300 block of East Third. 

According to event organizer Marjorie Doneghy Willis, women on East Third would make and bake food and bring out other items to the street to sell years ago in the summer.

Local artist Willis, whose studio is housed in her mother’s home, will also have her artwork for sale.

Neighborhood picnic Saturday

The residents of Bon Air Hills will gather at the home of Betty and John Loyd, 255 Fairway Drive, Saturday at 5:30 p.m. for the second annual neighborhood potluck picnic. Dress is casual and no pets are allowed.

Chicken, rolls, soft drinks, ice and table service will be furnished. Those neighbors whose last names begin A-L should bring a vegetable dish and those with last names M-Z should bring a dessert or salad.

Music by Reed Harrod and friends will begin at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Humane Society holds food/supply drive

The Franklin County Humane Society is having a food/supply drive at both Frankfort Dollar General locations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Kitten food and litter is needed. Cats and kittens are $20 due to overpopulation.
